1 week Post-Op!

Today made a week since Logan's Saggital Craniectomy and I can honestly say that I am completely besides myself! I never in a million years thought that something so small could heal so fast! Everyone I talked to who whether it be on a support site, or a personal friend kept telling me that babies are so resilient and that I would be impressed! I believed every word they said, but I never thought it would be to this extreme! He is completely medicine free other than the antibiotic ointment that I apply to his head 2x's daily! He only required 2 doses of narcotic pain medication and occasional tylenol there after! The results have also been extremely remarkable! Basically, it has been a "night & day" transformation and I am just so completely impressed!

Just to note for Logan in the future-- At one week post-op, Mommy applies the antibiotic ointment to your entire incision when you wake up in the morning. I place a soft cotton hat over the insision just to hold the ointment in place. We go about our daily routine like nothing ever happened! That consist of watching bubbie play and of course eating and pooping :-D Every evening I give you a bath. I sterilize the tub each time, use sterile wash clothes, and the foam head to toe Johnson's to Johnson's! I wet your hair, apply the shampoo and gently rub in circular motions. I let the soap sit on your head while I bathe you! Bathing you now is a little more difficult because I am having to watch your incision very closely... not allowing it to touch the un-sterile water! After you are completely clean I rinse your hair. (your tub came with a shower head attachment, so I use that to rinse your hair) The water used is in a seperate bucket that has not been touched by germs. Drying you off, I get you completely dry, except for your head. Diaper you, lotion you up, and get your nighties on... I then take Bounty paper towels and blot your insicion dry-- Bounty PT's because they are sterile and they absorb nicely. Once all dry, I apply your antibiotic ointment and put a clean hat on your little head! :-D

The incision looks great! Hard to believe something so scary and gruesome could look so nice ;-)

Here is a picture of you at 1 week post-op!
